31 October 2022

UNESCO is consulting art dealers in order to ensure their ownership of the principles to be included in the revised International Code of Ethics for Dealers in Cultural Property. In this framework, UNESCO organized a first consultation meeting with representatives of the art market on 25 January 2022.

To continue these consultations, a second meeting with art dealers from all regions will be organized on 7 November 2022, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. (CET). The consultation meeting will be held at the UNESCO Headquarters and will be live-streamed at the following link.

During this second consultation meeting, the stakeholders will discuss the Amendments to the 1999 International Code of Ethics for Dealers in Cultural Property proposed by the Working Group established by the 22nd session of the Intergovernmental Committee for Promoting the Return of Cultural Property to its Countries of Origin or its Restitution in case of Illicit Appropriation (ICPRCP). The results of this meeting will be submitted to the 11th session of the Subsidiary Committee of the Meeting of States Parties to the 1970 Convention (May 2023).

The working languages of the online consultation will be English and French and simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
